The Ministry of Trade has released the first export of two innovative pottery products from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from East Java to Japan. Both products are from potted growing balls (bobupot) produced by Green Galeria Indonesia from Surabaya and terracotta pots produced by UD Gerabah Merah from Malang. "The Ministry of Trade, through the MSME BISA Ekspor program, continues to provide support for MSMEs who want to expand their markets abroad. With the right assistance, Indonesian MSMEs are expected to be increasingly ready to compete internationally," said the Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi in a press release quoted on Saturday (5/4/2025).
Bobupot is a smart ball-shaped planting medium pot for plants. This container has a natural texture coated with recycled materials such as coconut fiber, gravel, white sand, and ash and charcoal for indoor use. This product was exported for USD46,799 in its first export to Japan. Meanwhile, terracotta pots are small-sized clay garden media to be placed indoors. This product was first exported to Japan for USD 1,512. UMKM BISA Ekspor provides training, mentoring, and international market access for UMKM players so that they are able to face export challenges. This program includes increasing the competitiveness of export products, increasing the capacity of export human resources (HR), and expanding the market needed so that products can be accepted in the global market.
