From 25-27 March, 2025, Expo Asociación Nacional de Tiendas de Autoservicio y Departamentales (Expo ANTAD) 2025 took place at Expo Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, with over 1,400 participants from various countries and 52,000 visitors from 67 countries. The Indonesian Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) facilitated business-matching during Expo ANTAD 2025 between Indonesian food and beverage companies such as Sari Mas Permai, Mayora, Gulapa, Forisa, Caplang, GreatGiant Pineapple, DnD Global Industry and SINA Group with distributors and major retail chains such as Soriana, Liverpool, Chedraui, Super Kompras and Waldo's. Furthermore, ITPC Mexico City focuses on connecting Indonesian exporters directly with importers and distributors of Asian food products in Mexico. These importers and distributors include Toyo Foods Mexico, JS-JJJ SA de CV, Asian Food Marketing SA de CV, and MegaFood.
It is anticipated that business-matching activities will create opportunities for the export of Indonesian food and beverage products to the Mexican market, as well as to North, Central, and South America. The most in-demand products included biscuits and coffee candies manufactured by Mayora, a variety of ginger candies from SINA Group, hot cream from Caplang and organic coconut sugar from Gulapa. The Mexican food and beverage product market is valued at USD 51.9 billion. The promotion of Indonesian products through Expo ANTAD 2025 should continue to enhance consumer awareness in Mexico of Indonesian products as being healthy, environmentally sustainable, and beneficial to farmers' welfare. The growing demand for food and beverage products, including from the Asian region, presents a significant opportunity. In 2024, Mexico's imports of food and beverage products totalled USD 42.1 billion, marking a 14.1% growth compared to 2023 figures. Likewise, in 2024, Mexico's imports of food and beverages from Indonesia amounted to USD 176.8 million, an increase of 75.6% compared to 2023, with a market share of 5.9%.
