The Indonesian government has designated Aceh as one of 15 priority regions for national creative economy (Ekraf) development, recognizing its significant potential to drive local economic growth. During a visit to the Aceh Governor’s Office, Special Staff to the Minister of Creative Economy, Rian Syaf, emphasized that Aceh’s rich creative industry could serve as a key economic driver. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to strengthen regional economies and expand job opportunities, with the creative economy identified as a major pillar in President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita agenda. With strong support from central and local governments, Aceh is expected to emerge as a leading creative hub in Indonesia.
The government aims for the creative economy to generate up to one million jobs by 2025, particularly benefiting young entrepreneurs. Acting Aceh Regional Secretary M. Nasir highlighted the importance of collaboration between regional governments and ministries to empower creative industry players. Aceh has already developed a roadmap for creative economy growth, focusing on culinary, handicrafts, and digital industries. However, stronger promotion and capacity-building programs are needed to increase market reach and enhance competitiveness. Assistant II to the Regional Secretariat, Zulkifli, further emphasized the need for more intensive support to maximize Aceh’s creative potential. With a clear vision and strategic partnerships, Aceh is set to play a vital role in Indonesia’s creative economy transformation.
