Bank Indonesia's East Java Representative Office, in collaboration with the Indonesian Economic Scholars Association (ISEI) Surabaya, recently held the Jatim Talk economic seminar in Surabaya. This forum served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss strategies for boosting productivity and innovation to strengthen East Java’s inclusive and sustainable economy. In 2024, the province's economy grew by 4.93%, driven by private consumption and investment. East Java Deputy Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak emphasized the need to maintain this growth momentum as part of preparations for Indonesia Emas 2045.
BI East Java Representative Head, Erwin Gunawan Hutapea, highlighted the province’s strategic role in the national economy, calling for policies that optimize key sectors. Deputy Head M. Noor Nugroho projected economic improvements in 2025, supported by domestic and external demand with controlled inflation. To sustain economic stability and acceleration, BI East Java recommended strengthening key industries, developing new growth sectors such as downstream chemical, oil and gas, and copper industries, enhancing transport integration, and advancing area-based development. The seminar featured economic experts who underscored private investment, economic diversification, and regional planning as key growth drivers. Additionally, BI East Java launched the 2024 Provincial Economic Report and opened the East Java Economic Forum (EJAVEC) 2025, aiming to generate concrete ideas for tackling global economic challenges and building a more resilient regional economy.
