Sragen Class IIA Prison has successfully exported 64,700 coconut fiber (coco rope) pet toys crafted by 492 inmates to the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. This milestone, marked by the inaugural export release on March 22, 2025, highlights a collaboration between Sragen Prison and PT Chewy Louis. The company aims to receive up to four containers of products per month, prompting plans to expand cooperation with other prisons in Central Java.
This initiative not only provides inmates with valuable skills but also supports their reintegration into society. Earnings from the program are directly transferred to inmates' families, contributing to their economic well-being. Sragen Regent Sigit Pamungkas praised the program for empowering inmates and spearheading the first-ever prison export in Central Java. Additionally, inmates have innovated production techniques, creating tools to boost efficiency. The event also included an MoU signing between PT Chewy Louis, Sragen Prison, and the local government, strengthening future collaboration.
