Indonesia’s kratom industry has gained significant traction in the U.S., accounting for 96% of total kratom imports and generating USD 350 million in exports. Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani highlighted that kratom, predominantly sourced from West Kalimantan, is widely used for medicinal and herbal purposes. The latest export batch, facilitated by Trade Minister Budi Santoso, further underscores the strong demand for Indonesian kratom in the U.S. market.
Former Cooperatives and SMEs Minister Teten Masduki emphasized the importance of downstream kratom processing to enhance product diversity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). He urged the continuation of kratom industrialization under the Prabowo-Gibran administration, ensuring sustainable use of Indonesia’s natural resources. Kratom’s growing acceptance in international markets presents a significant economic opportunity for Indonesia’s agricultural sector.
