A Malang-based MSME, UD Ilham Gerabah, has successfully exported its first pottery pot product to the Japanese market. A total of 540 pottery pots with an export foreign exchange value of USD 1,150 were released at a ceremony held in Klojen, Malang City on Tuesday, March 18th. Head of the Malang Customs Office Gunawan Tri Wibowo said that the successful export of UD Ilham Gerabah was the result of a long process that began in early 2024. His party actively supports MSMEs through the Export Clinic program, one of which is by bringing together buyers from Japan with local craftsmen last January. "Through intensive assistance and ongoing negotiation processes, this MSME has finally succeeded in penetrating the export market," said Gunawan in his statement, Tuesday, March 25th. The export release moment was also attended by various parties who support the development of export MSMEs.

Present at the event were the Head of Facilities Division of the East Java II Customs Regional Office and Head of the East Java Ministry of Finance's UMKM Working Group Bakhroni, Head of Trade Division of the Malang City Trade and Industry Office Luh Putu Eka Wilantari, and Manager of the UMKM and Sharia Development Function of Bank Indonesia Malang Kuswardhani. Support was also provided by the Tokyo Financial Attaché Leni Nurlaeni, who helped facilitate exports to Japan. Gunawan said that the release of this export shows that UMKM has great potential to penetrate the international market. "The Malang Customs Export Clinic is ready to provide assistance to UMKM so that they can successfully realize their exports," said Gunawan. The success of this earthenware pot export is expected to motivate other UMKM in Malang City to continue to develop and compete in the global market.
