The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) supports the development of the solar module industry as a key component in solar power plants (PLTS) to maximize renewable energy electrification in Indonesia. According to Solehan, Director of Machinery and Agricultural Equipment Industry at Kemenperin, this initiative aligns with the country’s goal of achieving Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060. Kemenperin continues to encourage investments in solar cell and module industries to accelerate the growth of renewable energy and support emission reduction efforts.
Currently, Indonesia has 33 solar module manufacturers with an annual production capacity of 4.3 gigawatts (GW), and each module can reach up to 720 watts. With the rising demand for solar modules in industrial and household electrification, Kemenperin is implementing policies to boost local content usage (P3DN) in renewable energy infrastructure projects. The government’s commitment to increasing renewable energy’s share in the electricity supply plan (RUPTL) until 2030 presents a significant market opportunity for domestic EBT component industries.
