The Tidore Islands city government is committed to expanding its local coconut oil industry, particularly through the small and medium enterprises (IKM) Sohi Coconut in Akelamo, Oba Tengah. Mayor Muhammad Sinen emphasized the need for greater market support to scale up production and ensure that locally made coconut oil becomes a widely recognized alternative to commercial cooking oil in North Maluku.

The government encourages collaboration between village-owned enterprises (Bumdes) and IKM to create a sustainable supply chain. With growing public interest, efforts will focus on expanding distribution to local shops and supermarkets, prioritizing Tidore-made coconut oil over imported brands. This initiative also aims to generate employment and provide farmers with a profitable alternative to fluctuating copra prices.
