Indonesia's fisheries trade surplus grew by 9.1% in 2024, supported by a 5.7% increase in export value, reaching USD 5.95 billion, while imports declined by 19.8%. The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) highlighted key export commodities, with shrimp leading at USD 1.68 billion (28.2% of total exports), followed by tuna-skipjack, squid-cuttlefish-octopus, crab, and seaweed. Notably, skipjack-tuna, squid-cuttlefish-octopus, and crab exports saw double-digit growth compared to 2023.
The United States remained the top export destination, accounting for 32% of Indonesia's total fisheries exports, followed by China, ASEAN, Japan, and the EU. Exports to ASEAN surged by 28.3%, while shipments to China and the EU rose by 9.2% and 23.6%, respectively. This positive trend reflects strong global demand for Indonesian seafood products, reinforcing the country's position in the international fisheries market.
