On 19 March 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) held the China-Indonesia Bird's Nest Trade Summit Forum 2025, attended by 30 Indonesian bird's nest enterprises, 30 members of the China Agricultural Wholesale Market Association (CAWA), and 5 Indonesian bird's nest associations. This event, a collaboration between Kemendag, the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, and CAWA, aims to increase the volume and value of Indonesia's bird's nest exports to China. The event is expected to strengthen the understanding and partnership between business actors in the two countries. This forum is a valuable opportunity to share insights on the latest market developments and trends, as well as to foster the development of Indonesia-China bird's nest trade policies and regulations. Furthermore, the dialogue at the forum highlighted the importance of promoting product standards, including food safety and product quality, among trading partner countries. This will enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian bird's nest exports in global markets. The event concluded with a business matching session, which facilitated connections between Indonesian and Chinese business actors.

As the largest producer worldwide, in 2024 Indonesia's bird's nest exports were valued at USD 428 million. From 2020 to 2024, Indonesian bird's nest exports to China demonstrated a positive growth trend of 3.75%. China is the primary market for Indonesian bird's nests, with imports in 2024 totalling USD 428.79 million, out of total imports of USD 634.95 million. Other export destinations for Indonesian bird's nests include Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, the United States, and Taiwan.
