The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that Indonesian textile exports reached USD 1.02 billion per February 2025, or an increase of 1.41% on a monthly basis. BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the increase in textile and textile product (TPT) exports was contributed by increasing orders from the United States (US). For example, clothing and accessories (knitting) aka HS 61 which is listed as one of the top three commodities contributing to the increase in Indonesian exports to the US. "The largest increase (in textile and textile product exports) is in line with export data to the United States," said Amalia in a Press Conference at the BPS Office, Central Jakarta, Monday (3/17). "So, the largest increase (in textile and textile product exports) was to the United States at USD 17.4 million or an increase of 4.13% when compared to January 2025," she continued.
On the other hand, Amalia also revealed data on a fairly deep decline in textile imports. She said that TPT imports from abroad in total fell by 20.74% month to month (mtm). Indonesia is currently still importing textiles worth USD 606.8 million. However, goods from China are claimed to be decreasing," she explained. Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani had also claimed that the TPT industry was booming. She referred to the growth of the sector by 4.3% in 2024. Sri Mulyani said that the movement of the TPT sector at that time even fell by 2%. The performance of the textile and textile product industry in January 2025 was also considered still okay. The State Treasurer said that exports from this group were recorded as positive at 3.8%. "So, this illustrates that production and manufacturing activities in Indonesia are still able to survive resilience. It (the manufacturing industry) can even grow from basic metals, electronics, and even labor-intensive ones like footwear. This is the basis of optimism that we must continue to maintain," she added.
