The Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service (Diskopindag) together with Malang City Customs held a launch event for the first export of the Malang Export Clinic UMKM on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025. This event took place at Penanggungan Village, Klojen District, Malang City. This first export was in the form of pottery products from UD Ilham Gerabah, which will be sent to Japan. The exported products were 540 pieces of terracotta pottery pots with a total weight of 432 kg and an export value of USD 1,150. The Head of the Trade Division of the Malang City Diskopindag, Loh Putu Eka Wilantari, said that this activity was a form of government support for UMKM in increasing the competitiveness of local products in the international market.
The owner of UD Ilham Gerabah, which is the first MSME in Malang to export to Japan, expressed his pride. "We are very happy to be able to export to Japan, and we hope to continue to increase our exports," he said. Eka added that his party will continue to provide guidance for MSMEs so that more and more are able to penetrate the international market. "Hopefully this will not only be the first export, but will be sustainable so that it is not only to Japan, but also to other countries," he said. He also appreciated the enthusiasm of the young people involved in this export. "It's amazing, currently exports are also being carried out by young people. MSME actors who are currently exporting are still relatively young. This is what we need to continue to encourage so that more young people enter the world of exports," he explained. Meanwhile, Head of the Extension and Information Services Section of Malang Customs, Dwi Prasetyo, explained that Customs has an Export Clinic program that aims to support MSMEs in exporting. With the support of the government and Customs, it is hoped that more MSMEs in Malang City will be able to compete in the global market and bring local products to the international arena.
