Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs-Fisheries and Sudan are Exploring Potential Cooperation Opportunities on Quality Assurance and Fisheries Export

Ishartini, Head of the Marine and Fisheries Products Quality Control and Monitoring Agency (KKP Quality Agency), recently met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Indonesia, Yassir Mohamed Ali. The meeting explored potential cooperation opportunities in quality assurance and the export of Indonesian inland fishery products, including catfish, tilapia, carp and more, between the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Sudanese government. Sudan also expressed interest in importing fish medicine and fish feed from Indonesia. This cooperation opportunity will soon be analysed to diversify exports from the marine and fisheries sector. Sudan is one of the logistics export destinations for fishery products, which needs exporter initiatives to start penetrating the Sudanese market and surrounding regions. The meeting also discussed opportunities for cooperation in strengthening quality assurance capacity from upstream to downstream. Furthermore, Sudan conveyed its interest in cooperation concerning the training of Quality Inspectors and the management/operationalisation of upstream-to-downstream inspection systems in the fisheries sector. Moving forward, Sudan will submit an official proposal for cooperation, which will be followed by discussions on establishing a cooperation framework. Through this cooperation in the field of marine and fisheries between Indonesia and Sudan, both countries are expected to experience significant benefits and progress.
