Bappenas Encourages the Use of Unified Socioeconomic Data for Development Policies

National Development Planning Minister and Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, emphasized that Indonesia’s future economic development must be based on accurate data and the strengthening of strategic sectors, particularly agriculture and resource-based industries. In a meeting with National Economic Council Chairman Luhut Binsar Panjaitan and National Nutrition Agency Head Dadan Hidayana, he stated that President Prabowo Subianto has mandated the use of a unified national socioeconomic database as the foundation for all development policies. This approach ensures more targeted economic planning and effectively addresses key societal challenges.

Bappenas, as the central planning agency, is responsible for integrating data with Statistics Indonesia (BPS) while ensuring compliance with the 2022 Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) to safeguard public information. Rachmat highlighted agriculture as a key sector in poverty reduction and inclusive economic growth, citing its proven impact since the 1970s. He outlined five critical areas for improving agricultural competitiveness: high-quality seeds, efficient irrigation, proper fertilizer use, modern technology, and streamlined logistics. He urged collaboration among stakeholders, including DEN and BGN, to build a sustainable, high-quality economy. With data-driven policies and strategic sector reinforcement, he expressed confidence in achieving the targets set in the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
