Airlangga: Retail Entrepreneurs Optimistic That Indonesia's Economy Can Grow by 8%

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that retail entrepreneurs remain optimistic that Indonesia can achieve 8% economic growth. He highlighted that members of the Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC) contribute significantly to improving the business climate, particularly in supporting MSME development. According to Airlangga, this optimism is crucial, as Indonesia's domestic market has strong resilience, with consumption making up 52% of the national economy. Additionally, this market strength has attracted foreign investors to invest in Indonesia.

To support MSMEs, the government is expanding access to financing through subsidized credit programs like the People's Business Credit (KUR), with plans to allocate IDR 300 trillion in 2025, mainly for the trade sector. Airlangga also emphasized the importance of strengthening SRC’s production partners and enhancing entrepreneurial training. He welcomed the MoU signing between PT SRC Indonesia Sembilan and key state-owned enterprises such as BRI, Bulog, Pos Indonesia, and Telkomsel. Furthermore, he encouraged SRC partners to provide affordable packages for the public ahead of Idul Fitri and to accelerate digitalization to help MSMEs thrive. Airlangga expressed confidence that, by upgrading the nearly 4 million retail stores in Indonesia, the country can achieve 8% economic growth by 2028-2029, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of escaping the middle-income trap within the next decade.
