Despite still being subject to anti-dumping tariffs by the United States, frozen shrimp exports from Indonesia continue to show a positive trend. In January 2025, the value of frozen shrimp exports from Indonesia to the US was recorded at USD 94.2 million with a volume of 11.1 thousand tons. This number has increased by 24% compared to the same period in the previous year. The Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Budi Sulistiyo stated that the final decision of the US Department of Trade (USDOC) to reduce the anti-dumping tariff from 6.3% to 3.9% was a driving factor for the competitiveness of Indonesian shrimp in the US market. "This decision provides a positive signal for our exporters.” said Budi (16/3/2025).
Budi emphasized that the Indonesian government together with exporters, shrimp associations, and diplomatic representatives in the US continue to approach and negotiate so that anti-dumping tariffs can be reviewed. “This process will involve selecting a legal representative, preparing supporting documents, filling out a questionnaire, and selecting a mandatory respondent,” explained Budi. The submission of this review is targeted to begin in May 2025. In addition, coordination with US importers continues to be carried out to ensure that trust in Indonesian products remains high. This is supported by a good track record in terms of quality and delivery accuracy.
