The Riau Islands Quarantine Agency (Kepri) has again facilitated the export of superior commodities, mangrove crabs (live crab/Scylla serrata). They sent this export through the Sagulung Service Post and Belakang Padang Service Post, Telaga Punggur Port Service Unit, Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Office of Kepri with the destination of China. A total of 2,800 mangrove crabs will be exported in two shipments with a value of IDR 131 million. The thousands of crabs do not only come from Batam, but also fishermen in Natuna, Lingga, and other islands around Kepri.

Herwintarti, Head of Quarantine of Kepri said that the export of mangrove crabs in Batam is in accordance with and refers to regulations, namely Permen.
