On 10 March 2025, the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, signed three bilateral agreements between Indonesia and Vietnam, including the Letter of Intent (LoI) on Capacity Building Cooperation in Engineering and Digital Economy, the LoI on Cooperation in Science and Technology, and the Implementing Arrangement on Aquaculture Cooperation. Both countries are committed to enhancing cooperation in various fields, including political, economic, education, science and people-to-people relations. Indonesia and Vietnam have agreed to achieve bilateral economic relations and reach the target of USD 18 billion by 2028. The enhancement of economic cooperation between the two nations has the potential to stimulate growth. Indonesia has welcomed Vietnam's investment in the automotive, agricultural, and food security sectors. Investment in the food security sector has the potential to help both domestically and globally. Furthermore, the scope of economic cooperation is set to be expanded to encompass fisheries, the digital economy, green economy and high-tech industries. The strategic and comprehensive partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam is poised to further strengthen economic relations between the two countries, thus bringing welfare to the people.
