Indonesia is committed to enhancing economic and investment cooperation with Vietnam to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth. The High-Level Business Dialogue, held in Jakarta, marked 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto highlighted the USD 15 billion bilateral trade value in 2024, emphasizing growth in agriculture, infrastructure, and technology, including the VinFast EV plant in West Java.
Both countries also aim to boost tourism collaboration through Vietnam Airlines and Garuda Indonesia while strengthening digital economy initiatives. Indonesia and Vietnam have signed a Letter of Intent to develop engineering and digital economy capacity, supporting ASEAN’s digital transformation. Addressing trade barriers such as Non-Tariff Measures (NTM) remains a priority, with ASEAN Trade Agreements (ATIGA) facilitating seamless trade. With a young, tech-savvy population, Indonesia and Vietnam are well-positioned to become ASEAN’s digital economic hubs, fostering greater regional prosperity.
