Foreign Minister Sugiono welcomed French Ambassador Fabien Penone for a courtesy visit at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on March 11, 2025. The meeting focused on strengthening the Indonesia-France strategic partnership, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations. Minister Sugiono highlighted the increasing high-level engagements between both nations, including upcoming visits by senior officials, to enhance cooperation in defense, trade, investment, energy transition, and the digital economy.
France is Indonesia’s fourth-largest European investor, and Minister Sugiono encouraged expanding business-to-business (B2B) collaboration to unlock new investment opportunities in mineral downstream industries, green infrastructure, and food security. Both officials also emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing global challenges such as food security, geopolitical stability, and maritime governance. In celebrating their diplomatic milestone, Indonesia and France agreed to accelerate concrete partnerships in agriculture, transportation, disaster management, education, and diplomatic training, ensuring their collaboration remains adaptive to future challenges and opportunities.
