The Riau Islands Quarantine (Kepri) continues to support the export of fishery commodities to the international market. Through the Natuna Service Unit, the Riau Islands Quarantine supervises and controls the carrier media (MP) of live fish that will be sent to Hong Kong. This export includes various types of grouper, such as cantang, cantik, macan, mangrove, gepeng, sunu, and pasir groupers with a total of 8,426 fish. In addition, there are 280 parrotfish and 250 lobsters. These commodities are transported using the MV. Cheung Kam Wah & Cheng Wai Heng with an economic value of USD 59,772 or around IDR 882 million. Before being sent, the Riau Islands Quarantine officers conduct strict inspections of all MP. This inspection includes checking documents through the BEST-TRUST system, laboratory tests to ensure that the MP is free from the required Animal Carrier of Quarantine Infections (HPIK) diseases, and direct physical inspections during the loading process. Specifically for lobsters, officers ensure that none are in egg-laying condition in accordance with applicable regulations.

The Person in Charge (PJ) of the Natuna Service Unit, Iwan Setiawan, explained that after all the checks were carried out, his party issued a Health Certificate (HC) as a guarantee that the live fish exported had met quarantine requirements and were in healthy condition. "After all the checks are complete, we can issue a Health Certificate (HC) as a guarantee that the live fish commodity is healthy and has met all quarantine requirements," said Iwan Setiawan, on Sunday (9/3/2025). Meanwhile, the Head of Quarantine of the Riau Islands, Herwintarti, emphasized that this export activity is part of the Riau Islands Quarantine's strategy in supporting downstreaming and encouraging business actors to expand Indonesia's export market and competitiveness of Indonesian fishery products in the global market.
