The Aceh government has asked the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest in Aceh, one of which is continuing the construction of the Sigli-Banda Aceh (Sibanceh) toll road section to Pangkalan Brandan, North Sumatra. "We propose the Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa toll road connection to Sigli," said Aceh Regional Secretary (Sekda), Alhudri, in Banda Aceh, on Sunday March 9th 2025. Alhudri made the statement while accompanying the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri and President Director of Mubadala Energy Indonesia, Abdulla Bu Ali, to review the Sibanceh toll road facilities. The visit was aimed at seeing the readiness of the toll road facilities that can facilitate land travel to the eastern Aceh route to Medan, North Sumatra. For information, Mubadala Energy is an international company from the UAE engaged in oil and gas exploration and production. The visit of the UAE Ambassador and Mubadala Energy to Aceh was in order to explore opportunities for cooperation with the Aceh Government.
Alhudri said that the construction of the toll road in Aceh until today is still up to Padang Tiji, Pidie Regency. Therefore, it is hoped that the UAE is willing to invest in the continuation of its development until it is connected to North Sumatra. Especially in the Langsa- Lhokseumawe -Sigli segment."Yes, exactly (the toll road will be included in the UAE's investment). The length is about 430 kilometers and it will be connected (up to North Sumatra)," he said.He said that the UAE is opening up opportunities to build the Aceh toll road, and asked the Aceh Government to immediately prepare its proposal. "In the future, I am sure we can do many things together. "We are here to meet with developers, the Governor, and exchange views on strategic steps in various sectors, including the utilization of Mubadala's energy potential in Aceh," said the UAE Ambassador, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri.
