The Lampung Provincial Government is working to develop an inclusive processing industry to drive regional economic growth. According to Mulyadi Irsan, Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development, Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal and Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela have prioritized economic expansion through initiatives that ensure more equitable and sustainable development. One key strategy is promoting inclusive processing industries, allowing farmers to add value to raw commodities instead of merely selling them. This approach increases their income and strengthens Lampung’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP).
Mulyadi emphasized that farmers will be trained in downstream processing and innovation to enhance product value. These processed goods can then be integrated with the service sector, particularly tourism, which has a multiplier effect on economic growth. Additionally, inclusive industries generate quality jobs and boost the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) locally and internationally. To support this vision, the government is facilitating investment with fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, investor-friendly policies, and skilled labor development. Strengthening exports, local economic resilience, and household consumption will further reinforce Lampung’s position as a key producer of high-value commodities like black pepper, robusta coffee, cocoa, and rice while leveraging its thriving tourism sector, which attracted 17 million visitors in 2024.
