The Bantul Regency Government in Yogyakarta Special Region has initiated the development of the Piyungan Industrial Zone over the next five years to enhance regional economic growth. This strategic initiative aims to drive job creation and strengthen the industrial sector’s contribution to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Bantul Regent Abdul Halim Muslih emphasized that this project is designed to attract investors, generate employment opportunities, and reduce both unemployment and poverty levels in the region. Scheduled for phased implementation until 2029, the industrial zone aligns with Indonesia’s National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) by promoting resource-based industrialization and expanding job opportunities for economic equity.
In addition to industrial growth, the Bantul government is committed to fostering entrepreneurship by supporting 500 young entrepreneurs and santri (Islamic boarding school students) through training, mentorship, and financial assistance. These efforts also encourage digital entrepreneurship, empowering youth and santri to develop sustainable businesses. The initiative includes facilitating access to capital, enhancing business skills, and improving management capabilities, ensuring long-term business success.
