The Berau Regency Government, through the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (DPUPR), is launching several road infrastructure projects in 2025 to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth in remote areas. According to Junaidi, Head of Road and Bridge Preservation at DPUPR Berau, improving road access is a key priority to eliminate village isolation and facilitate the transportation of agricultural and fishery products to economic centers. One major project is the continuation of concrete road construction on five strategic routes connecting Tanjung Redeb to Talisayan, a crucial corridor for coastal and inland communities.
Additionally, the long-awaited road development in Kampung Buyung-Buyung will resume this year with a IDR 20 billion budget allocation, following a delay in 2024 due to funding reallocation to the new capital city project. Kampung Tabalar Ulu will also receive IDR 2.5 billion for road improvements, expected to shorten travel times and attract investment in agriculture and tourism. Another major initiative includes upgrading 20 kilometers of roads in the Tubaan–Tabalar–Tabalar Muara area to ease transportation of agricultural produce. These projects aim to enhance public access to education and healthcare while boosting local incomes, ensuring lasting economic benefits for Berau’s rural communities.
