Airlangga Urges OECD Member Country Ambassadors to Accelerate Indonesia's Accession Process

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, urged ambassadors from OECD member countries to accelerate Indonesia’s accession process. This call was made during a meeting with OECD representatives at the Indonesian Embassy in Paris on Tuesday (4/3). Airlangga emphasized that Indonesia’s membership in the OECD would support its *Indonesia Emas 2045* vision by enhancing competitiveness, productivity, and investment to drive job creation and sustainable economic growth. As the first ASEAN country in the accession process, Indonesia’s move has also motivated Thailand to follow suit.

The government aims to complete OECD accession within three to four years, integrating it into national development plans (RPJPN 2025–2045 and RPJMN 2025–2029). To maintain momentum, Indonesia will submit its Initial Memorandum before June 2025, marking a key step in the roadmap. Airlangga highlighted the need for capacity-building support, technical assistance, and collaboration with OECD members to align policies and accelerate accession. Strengthening ties between Indonesia, OECD countries, and the OECD Secretariat in Paris is crucial for this strategic goal.
