The Mayor of Palangka Raya, through Acting Regional Secretary Arbert Tombak and relevant officials, attended the 2025 Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting (Rakor) virtually on Tuesday (4/3/2025). Led by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, the meeting also discussed accelerating halal product certification, emphasizing its importance in Indonesia, where the majority of the population is Muslim.
With 2.02 billion Muslims worldwide, Indonesia ranks as the largest halal food consumer, yet exports are dominated by non-Muslim-majority countries. Minister Karnavian stressed the need for halal certification, as 87.2% of Indonesians prefer halal products, even if imported. He urged local governments to promote domestic halal-certified goods. Following the meeting, Arbert Tombak reaffirmed Palangka Raya’s commitment to supporting businesses in obtaining halal certification to drive regional economic growth.
