On 17 February 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, through the London Trade Attaché, successfully organised a business matching event between EOM Green Trading Ltd. and PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI), remotely. Key objectives of this meeting included network expansion, facilitating access to high-quality Indonesian wood charcoal for the UK market, and establishing mutually beneficial business agreements between Indonesian and UK companies. Following this initiative, PT PPI has agreed to facilitate connections for EOM Green Trading Ltd. with Indonesian wood charcoal suppliers, with a particular emphasis on securing substantial volumes that meet EOM Green Trading Ltd.'s exacting requirements. PT PPI's Head of International Trade and Marketing, Joyce Josephine, has asserted that PT PPI possesses the capacity to meet the demand in terms of both quantity and quality, drawing from a network of other potential suppliers in Indonesia.
Furthermore, Michael Vares, Consultant at EOM Green Trading Ltd., said the company needs high-quality hardwood charcoal, particularly from Indonesia, adding the importance of working with reliable suppliers to ensure optimal quality control. Both parties agreed to discuss the matter further and to keep each other informed of the latest developments. In 2024, Indonesia's exports of wood charcoal (HS 4402) valued at USD 351 million. During the 2020-2024 period, Indonesia's wood charcoal exports showed a significant upward trend with growth reaching 8.30%. The total trade between Indonesia and the UK reached USD 2.76 billion in 2024, a 2.55% increase over the same period last year. Exports from Indonesia were valued at USD 1.79 billion, and imports from the UK at USD 973.30 million. This indicates a USD 812.20 million trade surplus for Indonesia over the UK.
