The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) and the Ministry of Labour (Kemnaker) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in modern agricultural clusters, with the aim of increasing agricultural production and providing opportunities for young workers in Indonesia. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the collaboration aims to optimise the use of agricultural tools and machinery in the development of modern agricultural clusters. The Ministry of Agriculture is currently developing 3 million hectares of paddy fields, land optimisation and modern farming schemes.
These programmes will be delivered in collaboration with 300-500 Ministry of Labour instructors and 27,000 millennial farmers registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, with the aim of enhancing the competencies of young farmers. The millennial farmers will be trained and placed in five key provinces of the modern agriculture cluster: South Papua, South Sumatra, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi. Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Manpower have distributed over 3,000 units of agricultural tools and machinery to modern agriculture cluster areas. This collaboration is a long-term solution for the agricultural sector, aimed at creating employment opportunities, increasing farmers' income, reducing poverty, and enhancing the Gross Domestic Product through the village economy.
