South Kalimantan’s exports reached USD 828.06 million in January 2025, marking a 10.12% decline from December 2024 and a 17.48% decrease compared to January 2024. The mineral fuels sector (HS 27) remained the largest contributor, accounting for USD 751.28 million (90.73% of total exports). Other major exports included animal/vegetable fats and oils (HS 15) at USD 39.50 million and wood and wood products (HS 44) at USD 16.88 million. Despite the decrease, South Kalimantan continues to be a key player in Indonesia’s export market.
On the import side, South Kalimantan recorded USD 106.31 million in imports, a 26.84% drop from December 2024 and a 38.24% decline from January 2024. The primary import categories were mineral fuels (HS 27) at USD 78.54 million, followed by ships and floating structures (HS 89) at USD 17.93 million, and electrical machinery (HS 85) at USD 3.18 million. Singapore remained the top import source at USD 57.07 million, followed by Malaysia and Japan. Despite the lower trade figures, these trends indicate a dynamic and evolving trade environment, with potential opportunities for economic growth and diversification in the coming months.
