The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin), through the Riau Islands Quarantine (Kepri) at the Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport Service Unit (Satpel RHF) Tanjungpinang released the first export of fresh anggoli fish to Hawaii, United States (US). Head of Satpel RHF Dwi Sulistyono said that this time the anggoli export was 501.7 kilograms, with an economic value of USD 7,741.23 or around IDR 107,807,724. "The first export of fresh anggoli fish to America is an important step in expanding the international market for fishery products," said Dwi after the release of anggoli exports at RHF Airport Tanjungpinang using a Garuda plane, Saturday. Dwi said that anggoli fish, which is known for its quality and taste, has great potential in the overseas market, especially in the US which is one of the largest markets for seafood.
Quarantine ensures that exported fish are free from pests and contaminants that can harm human health. The exported fish have had their heads cut off and their guts removed. "This process involves physical inspection and laboratory testing," he said. In addition, he said, each country has different regulations regarding the import of fishery products. Therefore, quarantine ensures that all requirements set by the destination country have been met, so that quarantine certificates become economic tools as a guarantee of product acceptance in the destination country. This series of quarantine measures is an effort to minimize the risk of disease spread and to maintain environmental sustainability. "Quarantine also provides quality assurance so that it can increase consumer and importer confidence in the products produced, this will certainly encourage demand," he said. Dwi added that exporting fresh anggoli fish to the US not only opens up new market opportunities, but also shows the importance of the role of quarantine in ensuring the safety, quality, and sustainability of fishery products. "The RHF Task Force recorded the frequency of fresh anggoli fish exports in 2024 three times with a volume of 1,055.71 kilograms, with a value of USD 27,593.92 or equivalent to IDR 407,650,109," said Dwi.
