Deputy Minister of Transmigration (Wamentrans) Viva Yoga Mauladi stated that the Ministry of Transmigration (Kementrans) received investment from Swiss investors who needed 10 thousand hectares (ha) of land for cocoa plantations. He said that a processing factory would also be built on the land that could absorb workers from the local community. "This kind of business development cooperation model is still wide open in the transmigration area," said Viva Yoga Mauladi in Jakarta, Monday (24/02/2025). His party also invited Indonesian entrepreneurs to develop their businesses in the transmigration area through investment.

In the era of President Prabowo, the implementation of the transmigration program also aims to eradicate poverty, improve people's standard of living, and support priority development programs and food self-sufficiency. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), he stated that many transmigration areas are now national food barns outside Java. "It remains to synergize with the food estate so that the desire to realize food self-sufficiency can be achieved," he said. Many transmigration areas are currently becoming new economic growth areas. From the transmigration lands in previous periods, he stated that now 1,567 villages, 466 sub-districts, 116 regencies/cities, and three provinces have been formed. "The three provinces are West Sulawesi, North Kalimantan, and South Papua. These areas are now economic and growth areas," he added. The Ministry of Transmigration sent 132 heads of families out of 7 thousand heads of families who registered for the transmigration program in 2024. Since the government officially implemented the transmigration program in 1950, 9 million residents from 2.2 heads of families have been moved from Java and Bali to various other provinces in Indonesia.
