In December 2024, industrial products continued to dominate exports from Central Kalimantan’s ports, reaching USD 73.89 million, or 81.44% of total exports. Key export commodities included palm oil, processed wood products such as plywood and wooden panels, and various chemical products derived from agricultural sources. According to Central Kalimantan’s Statistics Agency (BPS) Head, Agnes Widiastuti, mining commodities also played a significant role, contributing 13.03% of total exports, amounting to USD 11.82 million. These included coal, salt, sulfur, and metal ores like lead and zinc.
Despite the strong industrial presence, exports through Central Kalimantan’s ports saw an 8.13% year-on-year decline in December 2024, with total export value decreasing from USD 98.76 million in December 2023 to USD 90.73 million. Cumulatively, from January to December 2024, the province recorded a 25.35% decrease in exports, totaling USD 238.14 million less than the previous year. This decline was attributed to reduced export activities across the industrial, mining, and agricultural sectors. However, the continued dominance of industrial exports highlights the sector’s resilience and its vital contribution to Central Kalimantan’s economy.
