Non-mining exports from North Maluku are primarily shipped from other regions such as Jakarta, East Java, and South Sulawesi. According to Nurhidayat Maskat, Acting Head of the North Maluku Central Statistics Agency (BPS), several commodities from the province, including fish and shrimp, resins, and essential oils, are exported through ports in these areas.
The total value of these non-mining exports reached USD 0.87 million (IDR 13.42 billion), accounting for only 0.08% of North Maluku’s total exports, which amounted to USD 1.08 billion. While mining still dominates the province’s exports, the presence of non-mining commodities highlights growth potential in other sectors, offering opportunities for local businesses and government initiatives.
