The Indonesian Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, accompanied by the Deputy Regent of Purworejo, Dion Agasi Setiabudi, officially released the export of local products from Purworejo, including coffee wood and coconut rope dog chews, to Europe and America. This release took place in Pekutan Village, Bayan District, on 25 February 2025, with a total valuation of IDR 35 billion. This initiative aligns with the Indonesian Ministry of Trade's strategic programmes, including promoting domestic products, expanding export markets, and promoting products from micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM). Budi Santoso emphasised the importance of competitiveness in export products to successfully enter the global market, noting that Indonesia currently has marketplace representatives in 33 countries.
Dion Agassi, has also expressed support for export activities that promote local Purworejo products and creative economic activities, particularly among local entrepreneurs, who can leverage global economic opportunities, leading to job creation. Riza Deliansyah, Chief of Corporate Affairs at PT Astra International Tbk, emphasised the importance of collaboration in achieving successful exports, creating new opportunities and enhancing the competitiveness of local products in the global market. Dewi Harlas, Director of PT Eco Choo, highlighted the contribution of released containers to foreign exchange reserves and the strengthening of the Indonesian economy, particularly the UMKM export sector. She expressed her hope that the government will continue to provide support to UMKM, focusing on local UMKM.
