Early 2025, NTB Pearls Contribute the Highest Export Value

The salt, sulfur, and limestone export group contributed USD 110,193 (2.83%), followed by oilseed exports at USD 40,884 (1.05%). In December 2024, jewelry exports ranked as the second-largest export category after mining, with a total value of USD 3.816 million (2.82%), according to BPS NTB Head Wahyudin. The top export destinations were the United States at USD 1.123 million (28.88%), Japan at USD 826,168 (21.24%), and Vietnam at USD 806,987 (20.75%). Puerto Rico accounted for USD 451,563 (11.61%), while Hong Kong contributed USD 179,296 (4.61%), with other countries collectively making up 12.90% of total exports. Jewelry exports were primarily sent to Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and other markets.

Wahyudin further explained that NTB’s export figures for January 2025 did not include mining exports from PT AMNT, as raw mining materials are now being processed at a local smelter to enhance value-added benefits and boost NTB’s overall economy. One of the key players in the NTB pearl industry, PT Autore Pearl Culture, exports pearls worth hundreds of billions of rupiah annually, making it a major driver of the local economy. Most of their production is exported to Australia, which serves as a key market. “Our exports to Australia are significant, as buyers from around the world gather there to purchase NTB pearls,” said Francesco Bruno, President Director of Autore Pearl Culture.
