The commitment was conveyed by Foreign Minister Sugiono when meeting with UNCTAD Secretary General, Rebeca Grynspan, on the sidelines of the High Level Segment meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday (February, 24th). In the meeting, the Foreign Minister emphasized Indonesia's commitment in the field of trade and development, especially in opening market opportunities, increasing industrial capacity, and expanding trade volume.
Secretary General Grynspan conveyed UNCTAD's readiness to support Indonesia's priorities. "Indonesia is one of UNCTAD's main partners," said Secretary General Grynspan. Grynspan also underlined Indonesia's potential role as a bridge builder in various international negotiations. Several areas of cooperation between Indonesia and UNCTAD that were discussed included MSMEs, energy transition, digital economy, creative economy, and capacity building. The meeting also discussed the challenges of the multilateral trading system amidst increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics. Not only that, the meeting also discussed Indonesia's support in organizing the 16th UNCTAD Ministerial Conference and the World Investment Forum 2025 which will take place in Vietnam in October.
