Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with the CEO and Vice Chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), Kim Chang-beom. During this meeting, Kim shared the details of an FKI business mission visit planned for April 2025. The purpose of the visit is to enhance bilateral business and economic cooperation, especially in the field of new investment. This includes the expansion of South Korean industrial investment in Indonesia. A number of major Korean companies that either have already invested or are looking to expand their investments in Indonesia will attend the business mission. These include Lotte Group, Hyundai Motor Company, LG Group, SK Group, Posco Holdings, CJ, EcoPro, Doosan Enerbility, and LX International.
Airlangga expressed his appreciation for the plan and encouraged the increase in the realisation of Korean companies' investment projects in Indonesia. Areas in which there is particular potential for collaboration include critical minerals. Posco and Lotte have made significant investments in Indonesia in this area, and there is considerable scope for further development. The FKI Vice Chairman has committed to providing investment support in line with the Indonesian Government's priority programmes for the electric vehicle and battery supply chain. This support will facilitate industrial progress, technology transfer and job creation, as well as supporting Indonesia's food security programme.
