On 18 February 2025, Indonesia and Japan held the ASEAN-Japan Blue Business Matchmaking Support event, as part of the ASEAN Blue Innovation Expo. The Indonesian government is seeking to expand the variety of export products to Japan, particularly in the renewable energy sector, environmental technology, and sustainable industries. At present, Indonesia's exports to Japan are dominated by coal, copper, metal, nickel, and rubber. The government is committed to promoting sustainable trade practices with partner countries, and the long-standing and strong relationship between Indonesia and Japan needs to be supported by solid bilateral trade and complementary economic strengths. Innovative and environmentally friendly business models are needed to address the challenges of climate change, resource efficiency, and the transition to a green economy. Therefore, the promotion of cooperation and technology exchange is vital in supporting a more inclusive and sustainable economic and trade transformation.
