Riau’s trade balance recorded a surplus of USD 1.40 billion in January 2025, driven by the strong performance of the non-oil and gas sector, which contributed USD 1.28 billion, while the oil and gas sector added USD 114.06 million. In terms of trade volume, Riau achieved a surplus of 1.59 million tons, with 1.41 million tons from the non-oil and gas sector and 181.96 thousand tons from the oil and gas sector.
Despite a decline in export and import values from the previous month, Riau maintained its trade resilience, contributing 7% to national exports. Exports in January 2025 totaled USD 1.50 billion, down 8.21% from December 2024. Imports also declined significantly by 35.86% to USD 105.73 million. The government is expected to further promote export diversification to enhance the competitiveness of local products in global markets while ensuring trade balance stability.
