PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) said that throughout 2024 it has achieved several targets and achievements. President Director of Pupuk Indonesia Rahmad Pribadi said that the Company has succeeded in digitizing services, distributing subsidized fertilizers on time, and revitalizing factories to meet national fertilizer needs. "We believe that Pupuk Indonesia can further contribute to realizing national food self-sufficiency," said Rahmad, Sunday (2/16). He continued, with a production capacity of 14.6 million tons, Pupuk Indonesia is the largest nitrogen-based fertilizer producer in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Some of the efforts made include the construction of the Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) NPK factory, the NPK Phonska V Pupuk Petrokimia Gresik (PKG) factory, and the latest is the revitalization project for the III-B factory owned by PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang (Pusri). Rahmad Pribadi also revealed that the revitalization of Pusri III-aims to make the factory more energy efficient and reduce carbon emissions. The Pusri III-B factory is designed to be more environmentally friendly because it applies the latest technology such as the KBR purifier to produce ammonia. Meanwhile, in the urea production process, the Pusri III-B factory will use the Advanced Cost Energy Saving (ACES 21) system which is more energy efficient. When it is operational, the Pusri III-B plant is estimated to be able to save natural gas consumption of 10 MMBTU per ton of urea, so it is expected to save gas costs of up to IDR 1.5 trillion per year. The revitalization was targeted to be completed in 2027 and the factory would have a production capacity of 445,500 tons of ammonia per year, and 907,000 tons of urea per year. "The Pusri III-B revitalization program is a commitment from the company in terms of production efficiency so as to produce more affordable fertilizer selling prices.
