The International Conference of Oil Palm and Environment (ICOPE) is a global forum that aims to provide a scientific platform facilitating the discussion of sustainability, climate and environmentally friendly transformation of the palm oil industry. ICOPE 2025 is themed Agro-Ecological Transformation of Oil Palm: Towards Climate and Environment-Friendly Agriculture. The Chairman of ICOPE 2025, Jean-Pierre Caliman, emphasised the significance of global stakeholder engagement in transforming environmental challenges into opportunities for a more climate-friendly and sustainable palm oil industry. He highlighted the need for the palm oil industry to continue innovating and collaborating to build a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable agricultural system, underlining the industry's crucial role in balancing the world's environment and climate and its position as a vital component of the global economy.
Chairman and CEO of Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food, Franky O. Widjaja expressed his hope that the conference would strengthen the commitment of all stakeholders to sustainability, with the aim of integrating the palm oil industry into the global solution to climate and environmental challenges. Director of the WWF Indonesia Foundation Conservation, Dewi Lestari Yani Rizki, emphasised the need for the palm oil industry to implement robust sustainability governance measures in response to the challenges of the global market.
