Vietnam Targets Rp 294.7 Trillion Increase in Trade Cooperation

Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong has expressed a willingness to enhance cooperation with Indonesia, highlighting the substantial, comprehensive, and robust development of the partnership between the two nations across various domains, including politics, diplomacy, defence and security, economy, tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Two-way trade has continuously increased, reaching USD 16.7 billion (IDR 273.3 trillion) in 2024 from USD 9 billion (IDR 147 trillion) in 2019. In the near future, Indonesia and Vietnam have agreed to increase two-way trade to USD 18 billion (IDR 294.7 trillion). Thong encouraged businesses to invest in new areas such as the halal industry, digital economy, green economy, green transition, and electric vehicle ecosystem development. According to Thong, the two countries will seek to elevate the strategic partnership to a higher level as agreed by the two countries' top leaders.
