Indonesia’s creative industry has taken a major step forward with the launch of the Indonesian Event Industry Manifesto. This strategic document underscores the event industry’s vital role in the creative economy and outlines a roadmap to address policy challenges and global uncertainties. According to Andro Rohmana, Chairman of Backstagers Indonesia, the manifesto is a collaborative effort by event organizers, rental service providers, academics, and stakeholders to make Indonesia’s event industry more competitive, innovative, and sustainable.
The global event industry contributes USD 2.5 trillion to the economy and supports 26 million jobs. In Indonesia, it generates IDR 120 trillion in GDP and 278,000 jobs, making it a key driver of tourism and the creative sector. Andro highlights that events are not just costs but strategic investments, citing the 2018 Asian Games (IDR 22.3 trillion GDP boost) and G20 Summit (8.11% Bali economic growth in one quarter). To sustain growth, Backstagers Indonesia calls for data-driven policies, a national event committee, digital transformation, and signing the #PetaJalanEventIndonesia petition to push for government support. Event Owner Indonesia Chairman, Risyad Fauzie, urges industry players to unite in signing the petition, ensuring a stronger future for Indonesia’s event sector.
