Fajarini Puntodewi, Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), announced that Kemendag recorded an export potential of USD 5.22 million (IDR 85.48 billion) in January 2025 from a business matching event involving MSMEs. The majority of demand came from South Korea and Singapore for products like furniture, spices, and medical equipment. Of the total value, USD 1.55 million was from direct purchases, while USD 3.67 million came from MoUs. Singapore showed strong interest in spices and plantation products, while South Korea focused on wood products, medical equipment, processed food, and electric vehicles.
Kemendag organized 72 business matching sessions across 33 countries in January, with 196 MSMEs participating in various sectors. This success is attributed to the active role of MSME facilitators and strong government collaboration. Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports reached USD 248.83 billion in 2024, a 2.46% increase from 2023, with the agriculture sector showing the highest growth. Major export destinations included China, the United States, and India. Looking ahead, Kemendag plans 75 more business matching sessions in February 2025, focusing on products like furniture, processed food, fisheries, agriculture, spices, and Muslim fashion. Puntodewi expressed optimism about continued growth in export potential and MSME participation in global markets.
