The Ministry of Trade successfully recorded a potential transaction of USD 5.22 million from business matching activities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in January 2025. The ministry held the business matching event, through overseas trade representatives, which included business presentations and product pitching sessions, as well as direct meetings with buyers. The aim was to expand market access for MSMEs through the "UMKM Berani Inovasi, Siap Adaptasi (BISA) Ekspor" program. "In January 2025, the business matching we conducted showed promising results, with potential transactions reaching USD 5.22 million. This value includes USD 1.55 million in purchases and USD 3.67 million in memoranda of understanding (MoU)," said the Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi.
Puntodewi further explained that the USD 1.55 million in purchases came from Singapore for various spice products, and an MoU worth USD 2.67 million was signed. "Spices and plantation products are in high demand in Singapore," she added. South Korea also contributed to the potential transaction figures, with an MoU worth USD 1 million. "The products of interest include wood products (such as flooring, home decor, and furniture), medical equipment, processed food, agricultural products, steel, aluminum, copper, petrochemicals, electric vehicles, and poultry products," she explained. Throughout January 2025, the Ministry of Trade conducted 72 business matching events, both online and offline, in 33 countries, with 40 pitching sessions and 32 direct meetings with buyers. The business matching involved 196 MSME participants from various sectors, including food and beverages, furniture, handicrafts, medical equipment, chemicals, coffee, and spices.
