The Government Encourages Downstreaming for Equitable National Economic Distribution

The government continues to prioritize downstreaming as a key strategy for achieving equitable national economic growth, with President Prabowo Subianto emphasizing large-scale industrialization projects to boost the added value of domestic natural resources. To support this, the government has focused on budget efficiency, with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati reporting savings of IDR 3.6 trillion through cuts in sectors such as official travel and operational expenses. Additionally, the government is committed to providing electricity to remote areas, with a planned allocation of IDR 48 trillion over the next five years to address electricity access issues.

Downstreaming is seen as a strategic solution to increase the value of natural resources and create quality jobs, as highlighted by Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani. He emphasized the importance of optimizing Indonesia's demographic bonus while improving human resource quality to fully harness this opportunity. The government is also leveraging the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 to attract foreign investment, showcasing Indonesia’s downstreaming policies and commitment to sustainable development. With these efforts, the government is confident that downstreaming will drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve the competitiveness of Indonesia's industries, aligning with the vision of a stronger and fairer economy by 2045.
