On 7th February 2025, a meeting was held between Minister of Trade Budi Santoso and the Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry Association (HIMKI) to discuss preparations for the implementation of the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2025, which will be held on 6th-9th March 2025 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXpo) Kemayoran, Jakarta. IFEX is an annual international furniture and handicraft exhibition that facilitates connections between domestic businesses and over 12,000 overseas buyers. Minister Budi expressed optimism that IFEX 2025 will further boost furniture exports, positioning it as one of Indonesia's leading export products. The Ministry of Trade consistently supports initiatives to promote Indonesian products in global markets, including through activities such as rattan and wood product design assistance, as well as monthly pitching and business matching with trade representatives abroad.
IFEX 2024 successfully recorded on-site transactions of USD 300 million, attracting 13,370 visitors from 117 countries, including Australia, China, the United States, India, Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and several European countries. Indonesia is the world's 19th furniture and handicraft supplier, with the export value of Indonesian furniture and handicraft products reaching USD 2.22 billion in the January-November 2024 period. The main export destination countries include the United States with a market share of 53.20%, Japan 6.04%, the Netherlands 4.48%, Germany 3.73%, and Belgium 2.87%. The global furniture market is projected to reach USD 770.42 billion in 2024 and USD 925.46 billion by 2029, with an estimated growth of 15.76% over the next five years.
