Utomodeck Group, a metal roofing and cladding manufacturer in Indonesia, announced its business expansion into the Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) industry. Utomodeck took this strategic step to expand its business by building two Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) production facilities in Batam and Surabaya to meet the needs of the domestic and export markets.In its development, Utomodeck Group through its business line, Utomo SolaRUV, has collaborated with Sungrow Floating PV, a global company in the Tier-1 Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) industry. The signing of this cooperation was carried out by Utomo SolaRUV Managing Director, Anthony Utomo, and Director of PT Sungrow Floating Batam, Arnold Layuk Mairi, at the Utomodeck Group head office, Surabaya, on February 6th, 2025.
Anthony Utomo stated that this cooperation aims to increase the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in the Floating PLTS industry to support the national renewable energy (EBT) mix target. "Indonesia has great potential in mastering Floating PLTS technology and can compete globally," he said as quoted on Saturday February 6th, 2025. Currently, Utomo SolaRUV has operated a Floating PLTS solar module and floater factory with the "Utomo Floater" brand in Batam, which has a production capacity of up to 1 Gigawatt Peak (GWp). Anthony added that this cooperation not only strengthens the domestic supply chain, but also improves Floating PLTS manufacturing technology in Indonesia. On the other hand, Director of PT Sungrow Floating Batam, Arnold Layuk Mairi, stated that this collaboration not only covers business aspects, but also technology transfer and increasing domestic industrial capabilities. According to him, this partnership will accelerate innovation, increase competitiveness, and build a sustainable Floating PLTS industrial ecosystem. This expansion is in line with government policy in strengthening national energy security and increasing the added value of the domestic industry.
